Weather permitting! Come enjoy fun in the sun watching a sanctioned CMSA Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition. Contestants on horseback run different patterns while shooting balloons with theatrical blanks. This is a family friendly, free, fun event with a lunch vendor on site. Sit in the bleachers, or bring a lawn chair and enjoy watching the cowboys and cowgirls compete in this timed event.

About the Ride

Bike MS Tour de Farms is one of over 100  rides that happen across the US that raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Collectively these rides raise close to 90 million dollars annually with over 100,000 cyclists.

Last year Bike MS: Tour de Farms raised over 1.45 million dollars for the National Multiple Sclerosis, Greater Illinois Chapter.  The event attracts over 1,500 riders and volunteers to the city of DeKalb, Ill.  The bike ride takes place over two days and 200 miles and offers various route options for all levels of cyclists.  This year’s event will take place at the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center on June 10 & 11, 2017.  To help bring us closer to a world free of MS, each event participant agrees to raise the minimum pledge of $300.

2017-bike-ms-tour-de-farm-routes_v2-2017.pdf (15 downloads)Cyclists can choose to ride one or two days, with route options ranging from 15-200 miles.  Riders are fully supported on the routes with rest stops every 10-15 miles and 20 support-and-gear vans along the route.  We offer all participants and volunteers breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.  On Saturday afternoon as cyclists finish up their ride they are invited over to our annual festival which offers food, bands, beer and more.

About Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving.  Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with more than twice as many women as men being diagnosed with the disease.  MS affects more than 400,000 people in the U.S., and 2.5 million worldwide.

 Shake up your routine with a fun Friday evening close to home. Bring your spouse or meet a group of friends.

June 30 | July 28 | August 18 | September 15

$28 per person includes:

  • 9 holes of golf
  • Riding carts
  • Catered dinner compliments of the Caddyshack Grill (Alcoholic beverages not included)

Tee times must be made before 5:30pm on the Wednesday prior to the event at or by calling 815-895-3884.
Nine & Dine Tee Times are available between 4 and 5:30pm.

Freedom Run

The 34th annual Freedom Run event will begin at James Knights Park, 1001 Latham Street on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017. The 1 mile fun run/walk will step off at 8am and 5k race at 8:30am. Judges will award first place prizes for the 1 mile and 5K race for best costume. These evens are open to all who are physically fit and sufficiently trained. Independence Day 5K

Location: Hopkins Park

Begin your 4th of July celebration with family and friends at the Independence Day 5K Run/Walk.
Participants are encouraged to dress with American spirit (red,white,blue).
The Independence Day 5K Run will be held on a USATF certified course with chip timing. Walkers are also allowed and encouraged! This is a family friendly event. However, strollers, bikes and dogs are not allowed for safety purposes.

On-site registration will open at 7:30 AM for $30.
Due to chip timing, no registration will be taken after 8:00 AM.
Registration after June 30th is only available in person with cash.

Results and medals will be administered after the last runner returns or no later than 9:30 AM. Shirt/packet pickup will be provided AFTER racers finish. Please note there will be no personal item or bag check for this race.

Water and light snacks will be provided for runners too.
