Rocky Horror Picture Show

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an outrageous assemblage of the most stereo-typed science fiction movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock ‘n’ roll of every vintage. Running through the story is the sexual confusion of two middle American Ike Age kids confronted by the complications of the decadent morality of the 70’s, represented in the person of the mad ‘doctor’ Frank N Furter, a transvestite from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. Rated R – FOR MATURE AUDIENCES.

Transformation Through Rhythm

Are you aware of music’s many therapeutic qualities?

In South Africa, drumming circles help orphans cope with the loss of parents and impoverished conditions. In that spirit of healing through music, Northwestern Medicine Hospice invite you to the annual “Transformation Through Rhythm,” at 2 p.m., February 24 at the Egyptian Theatre.

This FREE concert will feature the DeKalb High School Percussion Ensemble, the Northern Illinois University Percussion Ensemble, the Harambee African Percussion Ensemble, all in support of Hospice and its partner program in Knysna [nye’s-na (like Bill Nye’s “na”)], South Africa.

Event sponsored by: Northern Illinois University, Harambee Ensemble, DeKalb School District 428, WNIU/WNIJ and Global Partners in Care

Gaelic Storm Live at Egyptian Theatre

After nearly two decades and more than 3,000 live shows, Gaelic Storm — the chart-topping, multi-national Celtic band — is looking sharper than ever with their latest release, Go Climb a Tree. The new album mixes traditional Irish music with modern influences, creating a sound that’s as wide-ranging as the band’s own audience.

The band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience, and it’s a well-diversified crowd for sure. The country-music folks adore the storytelling, the bluegrass-heads love the instrumentals, Celtic fans love their devotion to tradition, and the rockers simply relish the passion they play their instruments with. Each band member, in their own way, expresses a deep gratitude for their fans, but it’s best summed up in the words of Patrick Murphy: “The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We’re here for them.”

Stage Coach Players presents Disney’s The Little Mermaid.  In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages.
