About this event:
Through the generosity of hundreds of individuals over the past decade, Tanzania Development Support has been able to accomplish so much. Please join us on October 27 to help us celebrate TDS’s 10 year anniversary and the incredible contributions of our volunteers and donors.
What started out as a friendship between two graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and evolved into a ongoing partnership, has changed lives in both Tanzania and the US. Whether it’s the groups that climbed to the top of Africa (Mount Kilimanjaro), NIU students that helped develop business plans for a women’s owned co-op that manufactures water filters, or local volunteers that help manage the TDS yard sales, there is a lot to celebrate when it comes to the last ten years for TDS. Thanks to the countless hours of volunteers, TDS has been able to help construct a girls’ dormitory, library, teacher resource center, and computer lab at Nyegina Secondary School. As we celebrate the past decade and look forward to the next, we want you to join us for an evening of celebration with East African cuisine, music, and storytelling.
Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. at First Congregational Church, located at 617 N. 1st Street in DeKalb, Illinois.
For those of you that are not able to attend on October 27, please consider making a donation to TDS that will help support our ongoing efforts in the Mara region.
The event is free and open to the public.
