About this event:
Blind skateboarder and motivational speaker Dan Mancina (@danthemancina) will be coming to Fargo Skateboarding for Disability Awareness Month!
Saturday, October 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Due to a degenerative condition (retinitis pigmentosa), Dan currently has 5% vision in his right eye only. He skated before losing his vision and he continues to skate after, just with a cane.
“Originally I was doing it without my cane but the cane gives it such a dramatic effect,” Dan told Jenkem Magazine in a 2017 interview.
@ 6 p.m. – Demo and skate with Dan!
@ 7:30 p.m. – Signed skateboard auction + meet ‘n’ greet
ACCESSIBILITY IS OUR PRIORITY. if you have questions about the space or require accommodations, do not hesitate to contact:
Kelsey Williams (Disability Awareness Month Director) at firstname.lastname@example.org
NOTE: The phrase “blind skateboarder” is used at Dan’s request; an alternative way to indicate the same idea would be to use person-first language (e.g., “skateboarder who is blind”)
