Wooden Box Theater in ‘Even the Stars Fall 4 U’ at DeKalb Public Library
309 Oak St 60115
2017-12-12 5PM – 9PM
On Tuesday December 12th at 5:00pm the DeKalb Public Library will host area performance group Wooden Box Theater inside of it’s second floor ‘Story Room,’ as they showcase an event that will display local theatrical performers, an area Realtor, local artists, and live music with their production of “Even the Stars Fall 4U” The event takes it name from the Keith Urban song of the same name, which was featured on his 2013 release, ‘Fuse.’
“Even the Stars Fall 4 U” will feature guest hosts Kaitlin Burns, Hillary Joy (RGM Realtors), and Mary Vaughn of the touring band, Porcelain. Vaughn will also perform a special acoustic set during the event.
Wooden Box Theater last performed at the DeKalb Library in 2011 as part of their event series of that year, and as was the case in the previous event at the library, the group’s lineup will welcome back one of it’s long-time collaborators, Carrie Morse, who last appeared with Wooden Box Theater in their previous DeKalb Library event. Lead writer Daniel Sherrill explains, “Carrie was a huge part of our team and our events in 2011-2012 and it will be a joy to welcome her back for this very special event. It’s a wonderful reunion between an artist and her theater group, and it could only happen in the exact place where she last performed with us.”
Live music will be provided by Carrie Morse, Adam Linder, Bill Leighly, Jaysen Curran, Joel LaVaughn, Mary Vaughn, ForeverStardust and Tyler Spaeth.
The event was written and conceived by Daniel Sherrill and Zephirine Moon Garden. On their recent event writing partnership, Sherrill explains, “Zephrine and I work really well together, she has been a vital part of the group since 2011, but this year we decided to join as co-writers, our collaboration as writers has really shined over the past several events, and I’m lucky to have her input both musically and artistically.”
Wooden Box Theater, as a performance and event writing team, began on stage during an edition of Open Mic at the House Cafe in the summer of 2006, and continues to evolve into an event directing team which has toured area venues in DeKalb and Kane County since. Their events typically feature a running story-line, along with exclusive live musical performances, and guest hosts, along with theatrical segments.
“Even the Stars Fall 4 U” is the second event in the group’s trilogy of live events titled, ‘The Re:Emergence of Wooden Box Theater,’ which began in October at their event at the Ellwood House Visitor’s Center, and the tour will wrap on April 21st with “Chasing that Moon : Beatles Nite 8” at University Suite inside the Holmes Student Center at NIU.
Wooden Box Theater appearing in ‘Even the Stars Fall 4 U’ will be held Tuesday December 12th at 5:00pm inside the second floor ‘Story Room’ of the DeKalb Public Library at 309 Oak st in DeKalb. Admission is free and open to the public.
